Solving Linear Systems by Substitution

Rules:
1. Isolate a variable in one of the equations
2. Substitute the value of the isolated variable into the other equation
3. Solve the equation
4. Once you have solved for one of the variables, you substitute its value back into one of the original equations.
5. Check: plug the point into both equations to make sure that it satisfies both.
